When Laurie L. Marker was visiting the Portland Zoo for a speaking engagement for The Cheetah Conservation Fund, I was more than excited to go meet her and see a Cheetah up close. You see, there is one specific Nat. Geo. issue that I coveted when I was 5-years old. The Cheetah issue. It's my favorite big cat to this day, and is part of the reason I pursued biology as well as photography. So this shot means a lot.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. This is a small elephant checking out sea lions in a display at the Oregon Zoo. It's a head scratcher for sure.
This was quite enjoyable to be swimming alongside a Green Sea Turtle in Hanauma Bay, Hawaii.
I couldn't help myself when I saw this classic—frog on lily pad—image right in front of my eyes, so I slowly low crawled to get close to the edge of the pond to snap this shot.
One day in 1996, I was riding my bicycle through downtown Tulsa when I saw the Barnum & Bailey Circus train had stopped on the tracks. I had a roll of Kodachrome 64 in my camera, so I went down to see what i could find; I found a lion.
Maybe not the greatest shot ever, but it seems to say so much, so.... Note: this was shot with Kodachrome 200 at the Tygh Valley All-Indian Rodeo, in Oregon.
